While Snoopy has been my role model since I was just a squealing, squinty eyed twerp, I do not aspire to lie atop of a miniature red shack. It's not the size of his classic digs that makes my nose twitch in disdain, nor is it the location. It's just not tailored to my pawsonality.
Ever since I became interested in the fineries of modern dogcentric interiors, I have become a proponent of dogs having a say in where they lay. All too often do we get stuck being Snoopy when we're not Snoopy, whether we're acting as furry weather vanes on top of red houses or struggling for solace in a boring old crate.
Don't get me wrong. I am certain that if we just barked a little louder about what we want in a dog pad, our humans would bow to our demands. However, as I've learned from visiting the homes of my well-meaning furiends, manufactured living quarters that can be dragged out of any Petco, I can attest that most dogs do not even find the issue bark-worthy, simply because they are too engrossed in improving the quality of their humans' homes, whether it be by sprinkling it with "magical fibers of joy" or romping around like a goofball.
With all that considered, I encourage you, my pals, to pause the shedding and the romping and consider what your ideal dog pad is, and whether it's worth nudging your human about. It doesn't need to be expensive, nor time consuming to make, nor whatever else might deter you from barking about it. It just needs to be you.
To help spark your creativity as you and your human build or purchase your dream dog home, I have provided some examples of pawsonable dog pads & who they suit. So let's get to designing, shall we?
Pawfect for the pooch with a penchant for color pops & polka dots, the hip hideout comes in a variety of colors & prints, providing shelter without hiding your savvy style sense. The abode also makes visitors aware of your appreciation for fine Barkitecture, which will definitely inspire long yips & yaps about the subject as you mingle over a bowl of Perrier.
Suitable for the trend-savvy toy pooch who never goes a day without pawing around Dog Milk for the latest in doggy raincoats, footwear, & more, this home is an amalgam of modern minimalist chic with a dash of quirky flair. Since it is a do-it-yourself project, be sure to seek the assistance of an opposable thumbed compadre.
This home is designed for the majesticly coated over-retrievers who always seem to relish in stealing the show, whether it be by flashing a suave doggy smile in every single photo or settling themselves all lion-like in a field of flowers. It is reminiscent of white picket fenced homes fawned over by humans, covered in white shingles & topped with a weather vane. And it even comes equipped with built in eating receptacles!
Yes, what you see here is none other than a shrunken mobile home for dogs. Coming in a wide array of unique shapes & color combos, budding inhabitants will most definitely be able to style one to their liking. Since we've dubbed it the "Rover Home," we figure it's most befitting of a tiny traveller with comedic charm.
The Cuddler's Cabin is a dwelling fashioned for the adventurous hound who feels most at home amongst natural materials like the pallet wood shown. Have a human insert a cushy bed inside this sturdy shack! That way you can make certain that your outdoorsy dwelling is cozy & totally cuddle-worthy.
Can you think of a home that's any more Dogue? Constructed with clean, angular lines & floored with a striped cushion evocative of menswear prints, it's almost as if it were made for distinguished canines like Menswear Dog, the Shiba who's taken over the internet with his refined wardrobe of suits & collared shirts.
Hipster dogs & dog parents are the Tiny Teepee's best friend. Not only is the Wigwam a perfect addition to an artsy home filled with geometric prints, cardboard taxidermy, & other such hipster styles, the teepee is the perfect go-to Instagram prop. This particular one is also tailor-made for the leisurely dog celebrity, as it is lined with a gleaming white fuzzy rug.
Fashioned from a cave-like crawl space & lined with an oh-so-comfy dog bed, the Crawler makes real every dog's dream: an epic lair for equally epic naps. Due to the compact & almost-clandestine nature of this dog pad, we'd recommend it for pint-sized professional sleepers who have a penchant for security & a fervent dislike for sunlight.
The Shaded Shack is more than just a dog bed with a roof. It is a sleekly designed piece of porch furniture that ensures temperature control for furry and/or darker coated dogs who like to sit outside, but don't like to pant the whole time. These cleverly comfy digs are also well-suited for showy types who like to don gold-rimmed sunglasses & look cool in the shade.
Designed to be packed up & set in a wide array of elements, the Wayfarer's Pavilion is fit for sporty breeds who aren't afraid to sniff out unknown trails & get muddy in the process. Their humans are wanderers who constantly hike, camp, & explore, never leaving their canine companion's side.
The Ranchy Roosty is an old western style kennel, one that's meant to house two or more dogs who'd rather have backyard playdates with good furiends than lay in bed. And so the abode is best suited for rugged labs and similar breeds who live for constant fun, "dograderie," & sunshine.
