I’m sorry to break it to you, humans, but a team of research Corgis recently sniffed out a startling projection: by the year 2020, there will be more dogs on Instagram than humans. And in time, as more and more cute pups take the social media app by furry stampede after furry stampede, all members of the Insta-elite (Instagrammers who claim 10,000+ followers) will have paws.
What, exactly, has caused this steady pitter patter towards canine Instarule? Well, take a scroll through some of the millions and millions of photos associated with these hashtags: #dogsofinstagram #dogstagram #instadog #dogsofig… What do you see? Are there packs of envy inducing style icons who have fur rather than wear it? Is there dog after dog making undeniably adorable, albeit humanesque, facial expressions? Are you seeing more canines romping around in exotic vacation spots than humans?
Case and Pointer. Dogs are running after your spotlight, and it’s time to just sit back and let them have it. Imagine the spectacular dogcentric world we’d revolve on if man’s best friend did just that…
As a matter of fact, there’s no need to imagine! Just look around! Canines everywhere are taking your trends to a level of cuteness we have never seen before.
Take, for instance, the ubiquitous floral. More and more Fidos are emulating Frida Kahlo and doing a pretty excellent job at it. They’re wearing flowers in their fur, lying amongst flora, wearing flower crowns… The result is pure art. That being said, I’ve compiled an inspiration board of sorts entitled, “Fidos with Flowers in their Hair.” It is intended both as an ode to Frida and a visual thesis saying this:
Dogs are coming for your limelight, and there’s nothing you should do except to let it happen.
